Dimitra Ananiadou was born in Greece and developed a deep passion for music from a young age.

Driven by her dedication to her craft, Dimitra pursued an education in music, obtaining a Harmony and Music Theory Diploma, as well as a Violin Diploma. She went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology, where she focused on early music and historical performance.

Never satisfied with resting on her laurels, Dimitra delved further into her studies, earning a Master’s degree in Musicology. This allowed her to explore her passion for understanding music in a broader context, including its cultural and sociological significance.

Constantly seeking to enhance her skills and expand her knowledge, Dimitra sought out opportunities to refine her artistry through practical experience. She gained invaluable insights by participating in international masterclasses both in Greece and abroad, learning from esteemed violinists and musicians.

Driven by her fascination for historical performance, Dimitra pursued specialized training and successfully completed a Master’s degree in Historical Performance at the University of York. This niche specialization allowed her to delve into the intricacies of performing music from different eras, embodying the true spirit of composers like Bach and Telemann.

As a talented artist and scholar, Dimitra not only excels in her studies but also serving as a teaching assistant at the University of Manchester, she shares her knowledge and expertise with aspiring students, helping shape the next generation of musicians.

Dimitra’s passion for the works of Beethoven has led her on an exciting academic journey. Under the guidance of the acclaimed Beethoven expert Barry Cooper, she is currently pursuing her doctoral research on the dynamic markings in Beethoven’s violin sonatas.

Despite her academic pursuits, Dimitra’s true love lies in performing. Her captivating interpretations of a wide range of repertoire, particularly works by Bach and Beethoven, have captivated audiences both in the United Kingdom and abroad. She played at some of the most acclaimed venues in the UK, such as the British Parliament, Welsh Parliament, National Centre for Early Music, Harrogate Theatre, Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, etc.

She won, amongst others, the ‘Silver Award’ in the Virtuoso International Music Awards, the ‘Platinum Prize’ in Beethoven International Competition 2023 With 96+/100 points and the ‘Best Beethoven Performance Special Award’ in Beethoven International Music Competition. Alex Apostolopoulos, a leading young composer, wrote a solo violin piece for Dimitra (premiere details TBD). The audience praised her for her maturity, emotional expression and technical ease.
